WORK > STUDIO/INSTALLATIONS

The works included in this series are comprised of several repetitive shapes I have been using for a few years now, many times over. Here, they are like portraits of my visual vocabulary. The actual letters in each work are action words, they reflect how the common forms relate, what they do, how they behave and interact with each another. And the verbs suggest how you might maneuver them in your own mind.
What I love about these repeats is that they become intensely interrelated—the characters depend on each other for context. Each is only known in so much as we also know what came before and what comes after. But what happens when they are snatched from their sequence?
I’ve lately become obsessed with the concept of unknowability. What if the defining quality of a thing is that it can’t be known? It can’t be uncoded or deciphered or understood. And instead of a frustration---it is a joy?
